The 24th and Final Reenactment of the pioneer crossing of the Snake River will be held August 7-9 at Three Island Crossing State Park, in Glenns Ferry. Dear editor: Friday, July 24, was the first annual charity golf tournament held in Mountain Home at Desert Canyon with proceeds going to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. It was widely supported by Mountain Home businesses and local residents, with donations coming in from all over Idaho, and as far away as Washington and Nevada...

Dear editor: I am writing this letter in response to Henry J. Commenia's letter about the 2009 Elmore County Fair and Rodeo. Did you happen to notice all the capital improvements that were made by the Fair Board and Shae Burns this year? Bathrooms that have been an complaint for years were fixed and made usable again; rodeo arenas that had areas that needed repair got repaired, and RV parking for the families of the children was made much more safe and no longer a fire hazard!...

Dear editor: First of all, I want to thank Kelly Everitt for his review of the Fair. At first it seemed he was slamming the Fair Board and the management of the Elmore County Fair. But, the more I thought about it, the more I realized something. For your information, Mr. Everitt, a "Norman Rockwell painting of a moment frozen in time" is EXACTLY what we are going for in Elmore County...

Dear editor: I found the WECRD's letter to the community in the July 22, 2009, Mountain Home News to be amusing, less than factual and hardly an honest representation of the facts to the people within this taxing district. I feel it is (in their words) "important to address comments, errors, and omissions" found in their (the WECRD'S) letter entitled "WECRD board refutes charges."...

As volunteers at the Fair, we are happy to welcome you to volunteer your time and money to make the Elmore County Fair better, After nine years of hard work we have felt that we had made a difference and vastly improved the fair. Sorry you can't remember the fair in 2000 when it was a complete bust...no exhibits or vendors...
