The annual Fireman's Ball begins at 9 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Elk's Lodge in Mountain Home. Celebrating its 108th anniversary here, the ball helps raise money for the local volunteer fire department's burnout fund and its aid to injured firemen fund. Proceeds also support the department's scholarship programs, which it presents to local students each year...

One... two... three.. The solemn chime from the bell broke the calm as a light breeze caused dozens of flags to gently flap in the air. Four... five... six... William Luckraft continued to strike the large, brass bell as hundreds of people stood in silence as the tradition continued...

Students from Mountain Home High School's Encore Company will showcase their talents during a showcase Thursday evening. Free and open to the public, the event begins at 6 p.m. that evening in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. Mary Agnes Workman, 79 of Union, Ore., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at the La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at 3 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Idaho Veteran's State Cemetery in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at 1 p.m.
