Verna "Swede" E. Thorpe, 86 of Mountain Home, passed away Sept. 25, 2013, at a Mountain Home care center. Per her request, no services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home. Swede was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Tacoma, Wash., to Lawrence and Pearl Smith. New Instrument Program Brings Music to Mountain Home Junior High

Mountain Home Lodge #19 of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (IOOF) has started a new musical instrument program to help beginning band students in Mountain Home access free instruments. Through Instruments Provided to Local Area Youth, or IPLAY for short, the IOOF has been gathering band instruments that beginning band students in Mountain Home Junior High can apply for during each application process. ...

UPDATE - Missing family rescued

A Meridian family that went missing in the mountains north of Mountain Home over the weekend were found safe Monday afternoon. Steven Rice along with his wife and their two sons were located by an Idaho Army National Guard helicopter crew at the Graham Bridge Campground on Forest Service Road 312.
