The Mountain Home Tigers opened their 2011 baseball season with a non-conference sweep of Wood River Friday at Tiger Field, 9-0 and 6-3. In the first game, Jared Day and Gage Curtis combined on a one-hit shutout of the Wolverines. Ronnie Young, Jake Hennessey, Gage Curtis and Enrique Varela all had two hits. Crash closes westbound lanes of I-84

A single-vehicle crash just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night on I-84 sent the driver of a semi to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and blocked the westbound lanes of the interstate until early Thursday morning. Traffic was diverted to the old Highway 30 at exits 99 and 112 until about 8 a.m. Thursday.
