Magistrate Court Aristeo G. Marquez, Jr., 25, was found guilty to an amended charge of driving under the influence, (11/12/05 case). Marquez was sentenced to 180 days in jail (170 days suspended, 2 days credited), placed on 2 years probation, had his drivers license suspended for 1 year and fined $1,012.50 ($1,000 suspended) plus $337.50 in court costs.

Deadline is Friday to enter this year's Christmas "Parade of Lights"

The second annual Christmas Parade of Lights will take place on Friday, Nov. 23, at 6:30 p.m. The parade's theme is "Follow The Star," a theme derived from 6-year-old Kyle Crockett, winner of the Chamber's Christmas Parade of Lights Theme Contest. Toni Noland, Retail Merchant Committee Chairman for the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, said that the parade is being scheduled in November this year, rather than the first weekend in December as in the past, because "we thought the day after Thanksgiving would be the perfect time.". ...

What as a "Fair Tax"? Most of us would agree that the only fair tax is the one that someone else pays. "Fair Tax" is a congressional initiative, co-signed by our own governor that attempts to broaden the tax base to the broadest possible point.
