The Mountain Home Elks lodge will host the Idaho State Convention here Nov. 2-4. Up to 200 members from 20 lodges around the state are expected to attend the convention, which has not been held in Mountain Home since 1995. The convention schedule includes a welcome dinner Thursday evening with business sessions on Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Henry D. and Genara Toy of Mountain Home were honored Friday with induction into the Treasure Valley NAACP Heritage Hall of Fame, during the organizations annual Freedom Fund Banquet. Henry Toy was born in Tchula, Mississippi on Oct. 16, 1938, the eldest of three children born to Daniel and Alma Toy (both deceased)...

Angela Fish, a special education instructor at Hacker Middle School in Mountain Home, has been selected as the Teacher of the Year by the Air Force Association for the state of Idaho. She will represent the state at the national AFA competition. Fish, 30, has been teaching for eight years, the last three in the district in which she grew up. Helen R. Weathers, 88, of Mountain Home, died at her home on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Helen was born on Dec. 6, 1917, in Bassett, Neb., to Fred and Nora Hopkins...

Charles Richard Farris, 94, of Glenns Ferry, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital, in Boise, after a short stay. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. in Glenns Ferry at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' meeting house. ...
