Patricia “Patti” Watson

Patricia “Patti” Watson, 53, of Craigmont, ID, went to be with the Heavenly Father on April 10, 2025 after a courageous 7-year battle with breast cancer.
Patti was born October 21, 1971, in Mountain Home, ID to John and Pauline Barrutia. She grew up and graduated high school in 1990 in Mountain Home. Patti enjoyed playing sports and was active in 4-H, and she was a natural at making new friends early on in life, a gift she always had. She graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 1995. In order to pay for college, Patti worked on Hot Shot fire crews all over the western U.S. She also worked as a road construction flagger, which is where she met the love of her life, John Watson, on a mountain road project near Pine, ID in 1993. They married on June 17, 1995 and began their life together in Twin Falls/Filer, ID, where Patti worked for several years until she began her most treasured job of raising their four children. Patti and John moved to Lewiston and ultimately settled on their ranch outside of Craigmont, ID to raise their family.
Patti was 4-H Leader for many years and volunteered in many other capacities. She taught numerous religious education classes and sang in the choir at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nezperce, and she was often organizing a women’s bible study, mom’s book club, or anything that would bring people together, which was food for her soul. Her contagious smile, sassy personality, and loving generosity drew countless people to her, which she developed into lifelong friendships. She absolutely cherished her family and friends, spending time with them and chatting for hours. Patti would reach out and help those in need, or just lend an ear or provide advice to help people through difficulties. She would enjoy going to large or small gatherings, without knowing many people there, and leave with friendships formed. She lived her life with a simple approach, love others and bring them to Jesus, by doing those things everything else will fall into place.
Patti is survived by her loving husband John, children Ellie (Corbin) Mock of Rathdrum, Emma, Noah and Greta of Craigmont, and grandsons Cade and Conner Mock; brothers John (Shelley) Barrutia of Boise and Paul Barrutia of Mountain Home; sisters Tonya Barrutia and Juli (Tim) Corder, also of Mountain Home; In-laws Jere and Linda Watson of Craigmont, Brad (Michelle) Watson of Meridian and Mark (Kelly) Watson of Moscow; plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline, and her sister Cynthia.
Special thanks to the staff at Syringa Hospice, St. Joseph’s Oncology, and St. Mary’s Clinic. Patti’s strength and courage through all the treatments, surgeries, medications and pain was inspirational to all who witnessed it. Above all, her love for her Heavenly Father surmounted all these sufferings, and she would daily offer up her sufferings for those in need.
The Rosary will be prayed on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood, ID. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow at the Cottonwood Hall. Burial will take place at the Craigmont Cemetery at 3 p.m.
