City firefighters battle pair of brush fires

A pair of scheduled controlled burns on the city’s west side grew out of control last week with city firefighters called to contain and extinguish both fires.

The first fire began March 25 as crews with the Mountain Home Irrigation District began burning grass, weeds and other plants that typically grow in the water irrigation canal that stretches along the local rail line.
