Snow goes flying as crews with the Idaho Transportation Department worked to clear a stretch of Highway 20 north of Mountain Home as part of a scheduled snow removal project Feb. 12. In preparation of a winter storm that slammed across southern Idaho on Thursday, ITD temporarily closed a section of the highway between Anderson Dam Road to Hill City to remove built-up snow and overhangs along the highway to improve safety and allow for more effective plowing, officials said.

A winter storm that swept across southern Idaho last Thursday prompted road closures along the interstate as law enforcement responded to a series of accidents in Elmore County and other counties across the state.

The winter storm brought with it winds reaching speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour as several inches of snow fell across southern Idaho that day, creating slippery road conditions linked to these reported accidents.
