City officials issue water advisory

While not an emergency situation, city officials urged local residents to take steps to prevent possible exposure to lead and other possible contaminants in water used to drink and prepare their meals.

A violation involving scheduled, routine testing of the city’s water system back in October prompted officials to alert local residents what happened while asking them to take steps to ensure the water sent to homes and businesses in the local area remains safe to use.

The action comes after city crews failed to complete and submit an scheduled inventory of the city’s water service lines to the Department of Environmental Quality and district health agencies by the scheduled Oct. 16 deadline.
