America pauses to honor former president

Mountain Home and communities across Idaho and the United States paused to honor the memory of former President Jimmy Carter, who redefined his life as a global humanitarian following after his time at the White House after he died Sunday at the age of 100.

The longest-lived American president died roughly 22 months after entering hospice care, at his home in the small town of Plains, Ga., where he and his wife, Rosalynn, who died at 96 in November 2023, spent most of their lives, The Carter Center said.
