Letter to the Editor

Work needs to be done to improve this nation

Wednesday, November 6, 2024

Dear editor –

Let me start by saying, “rise and shine, Elmore County; there’s work to be done.”

The following is in response to David A. Hoag’s letter to the editor to the Mountain Home News, dated Oct. 23, 2024.

Dear Mr. Hoag, the role of the United States (and Idaho) is to encourage individuals to be the best that they can be, to try to improve their lives, reach their goals and make their dreams come true.

There are stories of Americans who started out with very little, yet they dreamed big, worked hard and became extremely successful. America is a place where the individual person serves himself or herself and family first; not the government, the king or the ruling class. It is known as “American exceptionalism.”

Do you hold a Ph. D, as in “pile it higher and deeper?”

In the past, I have been an on-call,; substitute teacher at the Glenns Ferry School District. I would have graded your letter with a D+, Mr. Hoag.

Remember that, “you teach by example.”

– Rhonda O’Hanley, Glenns Ferry
