URGENT: Water remains shut off on city's north side

Wednesday, October 16, 2024

Homes in the vicinity of East 18th North and North 4th West streets remain without water the afternoon of Oct. 16 as city crews work to repair a water main on the city’s north side.

Crews shut off the water main after a bore rig used to install fiber optic lines in the local area struck a water line in this neighborhood around 11:30 a.m.

According to city spokesperson Charmaine West, crews expect to finish the repairs and open the water line by 4 p.m. today, Oct. 16.

Reports shared to the Mountain Home News indicated two large streams of water flowed along North 6th East Street with water pooling several inches deep at the intersection of North 6th and East 15th North streets as crews worked to shut off the water main. However, reports indicate this flowing water no longer represents a threat to motorists and pedestrians.

The amount of damage linked to the water line break remains undetermined at the moment, West said.
