The sound of jet engines caught people’s attention as they focused their attention skyward as a trio of A-10 Thunderbolt from Gowen Field soared over Mountain Home on Saturday. The sunlight temporarily blocked people’s chances to see the fighters as they continued eastward as the crowd cheered and applauded.

The flyover signaled the start of a local tradition as thousands of people in Mountain Home paused to pay tribute to the nation’s military. Celebrating its 64th anniversary, Air Force Appreciation Day represents one way the local community honors those who serve this nation.
