Law adjusts parental consent requirements

Changes to state law at the start of the school year require all parents to provide documented consent to allow school officials to provide any type of medical care to their children, including providing over-the-counter medication.

A new state law that took effect in July requires parents in Mountain Home and other communities to provide written consent before schools can provide children with medical care.

The revisions to Idaho Code 32-1015 requires parents to provide this documentation to allow school officials to provide non-life threatening medical services to students that includes providing children and teens with bandaids, routine first aid and over-the-counter headache medications.
