A thunderstorm sparked two fires near Glenns Ferry on Monday evening. As of 9:35 p.m. the Basin fire, burning east and south of Glenns Ferry, had scorched 7,200 acres and was still running, according to the Bureau of Land Management Facebook page. King Hill Rural Fire District Chief Derik Janousek, said the fire had been contained when his crews left the scene around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. KHRFD responded with three brush trucks. BLM deployed three engines, one dozer, and air attack single-engine air tankers. Saylor Creek Rangeland Fire Protection Association also assisted.

As of 9:25 Monday night the 101 fire, burning four miles southwest of King Hill had scorched 2,000 acres. Janousek said that the fire had also been contained. Resources included 3 BLM engines, one dozer, the Mountain Home Rangeland Fire Protection Association, and Bliss Rural Fire District.

Janousek said lightning also sparked a small fire behind Cold Springs Winery in Hammett. Rain quickly doused that fire, which was estimated to have burned about three acres.
