A car fire triggered a range fire east of Mountain Home that scorched thousands of acres of land July 8.

Initial reports indicate the 2006 Jeep Liberty burst into flames while heading along the eastbound lane of the interstate near milepost 97 around 3:10 p.m. that afternoon, although later reports showed the fire began on the north side of the westbound lane of the interstate.
