Title 40 & 8 Nurses Training Dinner and Fundraiser

Nurses Training Dinner and Fundraiser

The 40 & 8 is a national veteran's honor society stemming from the American Legion. Modeled after the boxcar of the French railways, and so familiar to American ground troops of World War I, it was chosen as the symbolic heart of the new organization. The French railroad theme was applied to officer titles and organizational functions. (https://www.fortyandeight.org/history-of-the-408)

There are various programs that we support both locally and nationally. One of those programs is nurses training scholarships. The 40 & 8 started their support of nurses training in 1941. In keeping with this tradition Voiture Locale 336 (VL 336) of Mountain Home, ID held its 1st Nurses Training Fundraiser Dinner on Apr 20, 2024. Through the hard work of our Voyaguers, spouses, and community the dinner raised over $2,200 to support nursing students. Amber Belmonte, a Senior at Boise State, was awarded a check for $750.

The funds raised during the dinner will allow us to provide for 3 future scholarships. Thanks to all those that helped in support of our efforts in keeping this program alive.
