Letter to the Editor
To the ladies and gentlemen of Elmore County, ID.
Please permit me to share factual (history) stories pertaining to my bloodline.
I’ll begin with God Bless America, Land that I love...
One of our military cliches is : “Not on my watch.” I learned as a young girl in Texas, the not on my watch from my family members, which consists of U.S. Navy (Lt. Commander - Nuclear Sub), charting the ocean waters to protect us from enemies far & wide. Safety/Security always comes first!
My broker Mike, US Navy, who was assigned to a “Bird Farm.” For those of you who may not be familiar with ‘a bird farm,’ it’s the naval vessel that fly’s off/out jets, then returns home to “the Bird Farm.” and safely lands on deck. This was during the Vietnam conflict. It never was a war. A war must (first) be requisitioned by the Chief Executive of a republic especially of the Unites States. So when I hear someone say ‘the Vietnam War,’ I simply let it be! I am not on God’s earth babysit adults, nor will I continue to “Beat a dead horse.”
Although family members are scattered across America; thank God they’re still alive. The have served (very well) US Air Force, Army, US Marines, Nave, and lastly US Navy Seals.
Do you recall the movie (Demi Moore) GI Jane? One of my all time lines is: “Do you like pissed off?” I couldn’t help but crack up and relate! With all due respect and most sincerely
Rhonda O’Hanley
