The meaning behind Juneteenth

Juneteenth, a significant day in American history, marks the true end of slavery in the United States, as it wasn’t until June 19, 1865, that enslaved people in Texas gained their freedom, two months after the Civil War’s conclusion. we celebrate Juneteenth, because it honors the day all of the enslaved were made aware of the Emancipation Proclamation and were officially legally released from their bonds.

Later that same year, in December 1865, the ratification of the 13th Amendment formally abolished slavery in the United States.
