Annual Burn Ban dates now in effect

In coordination with the Mountain Home Fire Department (MHFD), Mountain Home Rural Fire Protection District, Glenns Ferry Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Elmore County Commissioners, there will now be a reoccurring burn ban on fixed dates for every year in the foreseeable future.
Effective in 2024, a unified “Open Burn Ban” will be in place 12:00 a.m. June 24th to 12:00 a.m. October 1st. These dates will repeat annually, regardless of the days of the week they fall upon.
In the event that a particular year forces a modification to these dates due to weather and/or fire danger, these dates can be adjusted.
An open burn is defined as the burning of yard debris, waste, tree limbs, leaves, or paper products in any location. This includes burning in an open and uncontained area, burn barrel or contained fire pit. Recreational fires, in a contained pit or fireplace are exempt from this ban.
