Laura Florine Williams (Barnes)
Laura Florine Williams (Barnes) passed away on November 2nd 2023 at 79 years old. Laura was born on November 8th 1943, in Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Floyd T and Bernadine L Barnes. She was raised on the Barnes Ranch East of King Hill, Idaho.
Laura attended grammar school at King Hill, Idaho and graduated from Glenns Ferry High School, Glenns Ferry, Idaho in 1962. In 1961, She reigned as the Queen’s Attendant at the Gooding County Fair and Rodeo, in Gooding Idaho. Laura attended College at Idaho State University in Pocatello Idaho.
After Laura’s brothers left home to serve in the military, Laura took on many of their tasks and work, riding for the cattle, feeding cattle, fixing fences in the mountains, and helping with the haying. Laura enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in October 1963, and served until February 1966 as a Company Clerk, acquiring the rank of E-3 Lance Corporal.
Laura married George Williams on November 6th, 1968, and had one son, Damon. Laura later divorced.
Laura lived in San Jose California where she worked as a circuit board designer in Silicon Valley. She also acquired a real estate license and worked as a realtor. Laura went to numerous colleges and took extension courses to further her career in the San Jose area. Laura enjoyed making garden figures, painting plates, and working in her yard.
Laura’s parents Floyd T and Bernadine L Barnes, her husband George Williams, and her niece, Venette May Barnes preceded her in death. Laura is survived by her son Damon Williams, her grandson Rhonen Williams, her two brothers, Pete T Barnes, and Jerry F Barnes, and her two sisters, Cheri L Morrison, and Joanie B Jorgensen.
In 2012 Laura sold her house in San Jose California and moved to Caldwell Idaho where she lived until her sudden premature death.
A memorial service is planned at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8th 2024 at the Glens Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry Idaho.
