Food insecurity and Elmore County summer food resources

Food insecurity is a condition that affects every county in the state. The USDA defines food insecurity as “a lack of consistent access to enough food to every person in a household to live an active, healthy life”. For Idahoans experiencing food insecurity, this may mean having to make the tough decision between paying for utility bills and for their child’s lunches. According to the latest Map the Meal Gap data, approximately 13% of Elmore County residents were considered to be food insecure (Feeding America, 2024). The rate is 17.9% for children in Elmore County and 24% for Hispanic Elmore County residents (Feeding America, 2024). Knowing that so many people in our county experience food insecurity, below are details on where you or your neighbors can find food assistance.
