Ronnie Gene Smith
Ronnie Gene Smith lost his battle with cancer, Aug. 14, 2023.
He was born November 14, 1957 in Des Moine, Iowa to Loretta & Carroll Smith. He is the second of 6 kids. Rick, Ronnie, Brent, Deana, Dana, and Bryce. He grew up in Swan, Iowa, but went to school in Pleasantville, Iowa. He joined the Air Force in 1976 with a friend.
While stationed at Mountain Home AFB, he me Tracie Thomson, his future wife. They got married November 3, 1979. During the next 43 years, they lived in Mountain Home, Iowa, England and back to Mountain Home.
While in the military he did some temporary duty to Turkey, Italy, Spain and other places, including overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While in the military they had their children. Their son Matthew, lost a boy & a girl and had their daughter Nicole. Ron got out of the military, December 2006.
He also worked for Federal Express and he made sure his packages were delivered even if he had to use his motorcycle to deliver a small one to the hills when the van broke down. He received an award in Memphis for that.
On his off time, he liked working on motorized vehicles, if he could not fix it, he would find someone that could help him figure it out. He also liked to hunt, guns, computers and to ride his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife Tracie, son Matthew (Su-Yen), Grandsons Oliver & Sebastian, daughter Nicole and his brothers and sisters.
Gone before him – his parents, grandparents and 2 babies. He passed away in his sleep.

A Celebration of Life with military honors will be at American Legion Hall, 515 E 2nd South in Mountain Home, Idaho on September 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
