Heavy Winds Rip Through Mountain Home
A massive storm front ripped through Mountain Home on its way to Boise and Kuna on Tuesday night. What had previously been a calm weather day soon turned hectic as wind up to 60mph pushed dark clouds over Mountain Home. The rapid change in weather led some to believe that Mountain Home was experiencing a micro burst. National Weather Service meteorologist Sophia Adams disputed that there was a micro burst (a strong downdraft of air in the center of a thunderstorm), but did state that the pattern that took place closely resembled one.
According to Adams, the forceful winds and storm front was the result of cool air moving rapidly. The following morning, evidence of the powerful gusts could be seen around town in the form of trashes knocked over, large branches adorning sidewalks and roadways, and more!
