The Orion spacecraft that served as the capsule for the Artemis I mission that aims to return a human-manned spacecraft to the moon splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on Sunday, Dec. 11 @ 9:40 a.m. PST.
Orion faced harsh conditions in space to test its safety and durability before a manned flight could happen on Artemis II. The spacecraft was away from Earth’s surface for 25.5 days. According to NASA administrator Bill Nelson, “It wouldn’t be possible without the incredible NASA team. For years, thousands of individuals have poured themselves into this mission, which is inspiring the world to work together to reach untouched cosmic shores”.
