Some people just “need to take a hike”

Donald “Dundee” Martin is a Prineville, Oregon man who left Independence, Missouri on April 17 on a journey he expects will take about four months using a small push covered wagon for his gear and supplies. Monday and Tuesday of this week he spent time in Three Island State Park and when I spoke to him on Monday morning he said “this is a major part of the trail. Weather has a lot to do with my plans each day. I can’t travel in 100 degree weather during the day, so I get my miles in when I can. I have been sticking to the north side of the river as some of the Back Country is not safe this time of year, alone and without cell service.”
