Richard Kenneth Alumbaugh
Richard Kenneth Alumbaugh, age 87, of Mountain Home, passed away June 16, 2022, after a long illness in the hospital with his loved ones by his side. Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, with a rosary at 9:00 am, and a memorial service will begin at 10:00 am. Inurnment with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
Richard was born September 27, 1934, in Los Angeles, California the son of Joseph and Marie Alumbaugh.
He was retired from the US Air Force with 21 years of service and was a Vietnam Veteran. When he retired from the USAF he moved to California to take care of his parents. He worked for 15 years there as a mail carrier. After their passing he moved to Idaho where he loved to camp, hunt and fish. He worshipped at Our Lady of Good Counsel and was also a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Verna of Mountain Home, his son Timothy Alumbaugh and son Randall and his wife Glenda Alumbaugh of Mountain Home, daughter-in-law Dee Alumbaugh of Hawaii and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Richard, Jr and his daughters Toni Carlton and Cindy Higgins.
Dad loved to read. He always had a Readers Digest by his chair. It is hard to turn the page when you know someone won’t be in the next chapter, but the story must go on.
