Happy 100th Birthday - Helen Loughran
Born in Richwood, West Virginia on February 28, 1922. Helen arrived at 6 am when the whistle blew for the miners to go to work. She has said that her dad wasn’t happy he got a girl for he had made bets that she’d be a boy!
Helen attended Priest River High School in Idaho. She and a long-time friend were the first Majorettes at the school, she also played violin in the orchestra.
Her husband Jim was in the military. After various assignments, including Mountain Home, they returned here in the 7o’s to retire. Helen worked at Joes’s Club, El Rancho Restaurant and was a manager at the Elks Lodge for seven years. She has been a long time member of the Elks (Elkettes), American Legion, and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Helen has two children, Janet who currently lives in Mountain Home and Leonard (deceased), Granddaughter Rachelle, husband Joe, and their sons Adam and Gavin reside in Colorado. Grandson Colin and his boys Milo and Ari are also in Colorado.
Helen’s favorite pastime is tending the flowers in the courtyard at the Cottages of Mountain Home.
