Traveling Flag Disposal Unit
On 19 Sept, representatives from Criterion Trailers, American Legion Department of Idaho and Terry’s Truck & RV unveiled a trailer to be used in the proper disposal of unserviceable flags. In attendance were representatives from Criterion Trailers (Caldwell ID), Commander Eugene Brown, American Legion, Department of Idaho, many Department officers, members of Mt Home Legion Posts 101 and 26, Post 113 of Meridian, Mt Home American Legion Riders, Treasure Valley American Legion Riders along with many other Veteran’s organizations.
Matt Wrobel, of Post 113 had an idea for a way to assist in the dignified process of flag disposal. With the aid of Charles Abrahamson, ID Legion Adjutant a trailer was secured. Donations made by Post 101, Mt Home ALR, Post 113 and TV ALR made the completion of the project possible. Matt Wrobel, known as the “Flag Guy”, will travel the state assisting any organization in the disposal of any flags. The American Legion has already retired over 10,000 flags so far this year. They also use the left-over brass to create bells. Two of the bells made from the flags will be placed on the new USS Idaho once it is completed. This program could not happen without the great support of companies like Criterion Trailers and Terry’s Truck & RV.
