Red Hat Chapters to meet in Mountain Home for statewide Funvention
You've probably seen them- a group of older ladies dressed in outlandish purple outfits and bright red hats at restaurants, at the movies or at other fun spots around town. You may have stared outright or politely averted your gaze, but either way you probably asked yourself, just what are these women doing? These are members of the Red Hat Society, a burgeoning social "dis-organization" that celebrates silliness, frivolity and life after 50. The Red Hat Society gives women who have spent their whole lives "doing" and caring for others a chance to relax and let loose. it proudly calls itself a dis-organization, because it has no rules or bylaws. The spirit of the society forbids such things—except when it comes to their wardrobe.
The weekend of May 16-19, expect the level of fun in Mountain Home to go up. Expect to see laughing women wearing purple dresses and feather boas walking arm in arm down Main Street.
