Dale Roger “Hoppy” Hopkins
Dale Roger “Hoppy” Hopkins, 67, passed away at his home in Mountain Home, on April 8, 2019 from an aggressive cancer. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Dale was born in Boise on November 30, 1951 to Albert Leo “Hoppy” Hopkins of New Orleans, LA, and Ailene Ruth (Lahtinen) Hopkins of Little Valley, Bruneau. Except 6 years of traveling construction which took him to nearly every state, Dale spent nearly his whole life working in and around Mountain Home, where he met and married Kathy Marshall. Together they had one son, Nathan Hopkins.
Dale spent most of his free time exploring the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He was especially proud of his contribution of working to support the Camp Wilson Boy Scout Mountain Jamboree over many early years. In his later years he seemed content with talking and helping others. He will be missed, both in town and on the trail.
Dale was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dale is survived by his son Nathan Hopkins, of Nampa, two grandchildren Devin and Aspen, of Meridian, his stepmother Rosemary Hopkins of Mountain Home (who he grew to love dearly) three brothers; Mark Hopkins, Ken Hopkins, and Mike Hopkins all of Mountain Home, two step brothers, Carl Phelps of Durango, Colorado, Preston Phelps of Seattle, Washington, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Per Dale's request, no formal services will he held. There will be a Celebration of Life to be held at Adrian’s Club in Mountain Home, at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2019.
