Norma J. Dart
Norma J. Dart, age 73, of Mountain Home and Prairie, passed away on August 31, 2018, at a Boise care center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on October 6, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 11918 W. Ustick Rd, in Boise. Inurnment will follow at the Star Cemetery, in Star, Idaho. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mtn Home.
Norma was born October 24, 1944, in Boise, the daughter of Glen and Wanda (Ireland) Cattron. She was raised in Prairie. The family later located to Woodland, Washington for a short time, then returning to Prairie where she lived with her grandparents Peter and Mary Ireland. She graduated from Boise High School in 1962. She attended Boise Junior College and received two degrees, a minor in Geology 1965 and a teaching degree 1967.
She married Dennis Dart on July 19, 1969 and together had a daughter Laurie. The family loved to spend time in Prairie, helping Laurie in 4H and taking care of Dennis as his illness with MS progressed.
Norma had a passion for genealogy and history. She assisted writing a history book on Elmore County and she wrote two books; one on the history of the Mayfield District and one on the history of the Prairie area. She was a member Elmore County Historical Society, a member of the Prairie Historical Society, and a member of the DAV Auxiliary #2, of Boise.
Norma is survived by her daughter Laurie (David Farmer) Dart, granddaughter Kimber, her sister Joyce Mautz, nephew Shawn Mautz and his family, aunt Dorris Ireland Martin, aunt Barbara Ireland, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her friend and partner Jim Shane, and her parents.
Memorials in Norma’s name can be donated to the Smith Prairie Historical Society, Inc., C/O Nathan Cook, 199 Prairie Rd, Prairie, ID 83647.
