Lorine H. McGrath
Lorine H. McGrath, age 92, of Mountain Home, passed away at St. Lukes Elmore Long Term Care on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, with a viewing from 9:30AM, funeral services at 11:00 AM and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Lorine Samsel was born December 16, 1925, in Fashing, Texas, the daughter of Albert and Minnie Samsel. She attended school in Fashing and Karnes City, Texas. She graduated from high school in Karnes City and went to college in San Antonio, Texas.
Lorine married John McGrath in December of 1945 in San Antonio and in 1946 moved to Mountain Home. For the first part of her married life she was a homemaker raising her sons Loren and David.
In 1965 she decided to go into business and became an agent for Montgomery Ward. She also started the business of Mac’s Shoe Shack with her husband. Later she also became the agent for JC Penney until her retirement.
Besides enjoying gardening and tending her flowers, she mostly enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Featherville.
When possible she and her husband traveled. They went to Europe, Alaska, and most of the states. She also enjoyed some cruises to the Caribbean.
Lorine is survived by her son Loren and his wife Linda, sister Lille Mae Metting, brother James Samsel and his wife Bobbie, grandchildren Dr. Tony McGrath, Tashawn Barnes, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John and her beloved son David.
