Shelia Thompson
Shelia Thompson, 55, passed away June 17, 2018 after a hard fought battle with Ovarian Cancer, with her family by her side. Her strong will to live and love of life kept her going and being optimistic to the end. She was the beloved wife of Donald Eugene Thompson Jr and mother of three children Jessica, Donald III, and Kirsten. Shelia was born in Phoenix, Arizona on August 21, 1962 and is survived by her parents Franklin and Luideth Jenkins, and 9 siblings.
She met the love of her life while working at the Malmstrom AFB DFAC as a server, when she was 19. It was love at first sight for Donald then 18 who was an Active Duty Airman in Montana. Donald swept her off her feet and they married on July 3, 1982. Their blissful union of marriage extended for 34 years as they traveled the world together and had many adventures with their three children because of his military service. Shelia had a niche for arts and crafts as well as gardening. She was not just a mother to her three children but to all her children’s friends.
Shelia moved to Mountain Home in 1996 with her husband and established permanent roots here. She worked several jobs on base finally deciding on a career with the US Postal Service. She served for 15 years In the Postal Service before her illness forced her to retire. During her illness Shelia continued to share her loving personality. She crocheted numerous blankets and donated them to the children cancer patients of the Mountain States Tumor Institute in Boise.
Her giving personality and caring spirit will be sorely missed, especially by her two grandsons Constantine and Maximus. She touched all who met her in a positive and constructive way. Her many family traditions like her daily task lists will be a continuous and ongoing custom within her family who will carry it on with loving memory.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM, on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Hampton Inn. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mtn Home.
