County commissioners canvassed the ballots at 9 a.m. Friday May 18th and declared them official. At the April 20th cut off there were 9947 registered voters with another 148 registering the day of elections to bring the new total to 10095. There were 3270 ballots counted representing a 32.39% voter turn out which is about average according to the election office. | Chief Deputy Clerk Shelley Essl commented that “even with the traditionally average turn out of voters, each year during the primaries the voters tend to get frustrated due to the fact that they must vote party affiliate and there are 3 separate ballots. She reminded us that we do have absentee in-person voting at the court house 3 weeks prior to each election. In the general election there will be one ballot for everyone so hopefully it will be easier on the voters.” |
