This month in history: Coalition forces engage Iraqi troops in effort to push them out of Kuwait
On November 29, 1990 the United Nations authorized the use of force if Iraq's military did not withdraw from the oil rich country of Kuwait by Jan. 15, 1990.
In Mountain Home the events unfolding on the other side of the world were being watched very closely. As a military town filled with veterans, active duty personnel and families of service members it was hard to find anyone who was not touched by this conflict in some way.
In late August the 366th Tactical Wing had sent the majority of the EF-111s to the Middle East and the 390th Electronic Combat Squadron sent aircrews and support units to undisclosed locations throughout the region.
Immediately upon their departure the community turned their attention to supporting the troops and their loved ones left behind to carry on life as usual. But it was not life as usual in town.
