Local firefighters compete against counterparts around the world
Two members of the Mountain Home Fire Department will be traveling to Seattle this weekend where they will compete in the 27th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb.
During the competition firefighters from all over the world will climb 69 flights of stairs while in full gear as they climb to the top of the Columbia Center in Downtown Seattle.
After climbing 1,356 steps the firefighters will be at an elevation of 788 feet while standing atop the second tallest building West of the Mississippi.
The event is the largest on-air stairclimb competition in the world and raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
