Kay Irwin
Kay Lynn Irwin, 70, beloved mother, sister and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2016, in Boise with her daughter at her side. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Good Sheppard Lutheran Church, 5009 Cassia St., in Boise. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Kay was the most loving, caring and giving person, not only to her family and friends but strangers alike. She was the best mother anyone could ask for and her daughter was her best friend, they were inseparable.
Those who knew her loved her dearly, with her quiet unassuming ways and her words of wisdom she touched so many lives.
Kay was a lover of nature, music and an avid reader with enough books to fill a library. She was obsessed with sunsets and sunrises and had photo albums dedicated to the pictures she took of these.
She loved animals of all kinds, especially stray cats, and her home was never without a dog she lavished her love upon. Kay was a nurse who opened her own home as an assisted living facility in Nampa.
She gave that up to move in with her own ailing parents to take care of them during their time of need. When her job there was done she moved to Mountain Home and once again opened her home to take care of other’s loved ones until she fell ill herself.
She sold her home and moved to Morning Star, an independent living facility, where she made lots of friends and enjoyed her last days. She treated people with a kind and loving heart and never stopped giving until she herself had nothing left to give. She will be forever in our hearts and a dearly missed angel that was called back to heaven to be with our Lord.
Kay is survived by her children, Rob Irwin and his wife, Bonnie; Matt Irwin and wife, Lynette; Kristina Weber and husband, Barry; sister La Vonne Corder and husband Tim; sister Gayle Simmons and husband Marshall; sister Shirley Tiffany, brother Rod Hoover and wife Terry; grandsons Cyylor and Devyyn Irwin; nieces Jennele Estrada and Laura Siney; and many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mountain Home Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 10, Mountain Home, ID 83647 or the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, ID 83705.
