In honor of Arbor Day
Mayor Rich Sykes is joined by city economic development director Paula Riggs, chamber representatives Renae Green, Courtney Lewis and DIG-IT representatives Alain Isaac, Sue Gross, Barb Fogleman and Rick Ballard as they celebrate this year's Arbor Day celebration during a gathering April 29 at Richard Aguirre Park. This year marked the 145th year for Arbor Day, which started in 1872 in Nebraska. With grant money from the Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association, Idaho Power and Yard Creations, the city gave away 100 blue spruce seedlings at city hall and the city parks and recreation department to be planted as part of this year's observance. During the recent gathering, the group stood with two of those seedlings that were planted by the city parks crews.
