Local Vietnam veterans honored at ceremony

"It's high time and past due" to honor these veterans, said retired Marine Col. Brasuell during last week's Vietnam War commemorative ceremony. During the evening, more than 60 local veterans of that war stepped forward as they were recognized for their service.

Forty two years after the United States withdrew its forces from Southwest Asia, representatives with veterans organizations in Mountain Home paused to honor these men and women for their service.

During a ceremony March 7, a total of 64 Vietnam veterans stepped forward and were each presented with a commemorative certificate and pin to recognize their service during the war.
