Helping others in need

Mountain Home News publisher Brenda Fincher presents a check to city fire chief Mark Moore during an informal meeting Oct. 31. The newspaper presented the check to benefit the department's burn-out fund, which provides immediate help to individuals and families directly affected by residential fires. The newspaper raised the money through the generosity of its advertisers, who supported a special supplement that highlighted a number of the department's firefighters in addition to promoting fire safety messages as part of this year's National Fire Prevention Week observance.
