Name surfaces on new city fire chief

In an announcement Thursday afternoon, Mayor Rich Sykes and other city officials had reached a tentative decision on who will serve as Mountain Home's next fire chief.
Capt. Mark Moore was one of four firefighters that were under final consideration to lead the city fire department.
He would succeed former fire chief Alan Bermensolo, who resigned in May. Since then, assistant fire chief Bud Corbus has served as the city's interim fire chief.
Moore's nomination is currently pending a final vote by the city council. That vote is expected to happen during a public hearing Sept. 12 in the council chambers next to city hall.
A 20-year member of the Mountain Home Fire Department, Moore joined the department in 1994 and became a lieutenant in 2003 before his promotion to captain. Since 2005, he's served as the department's training coordinator.
Throughout his time with the fire department, he has completed a number of training schools, including the Idaho State Fire School, Boise Fire Department Safety Symposium and Boise Fire Department Wildfire Urban Interface in addition to online fire education classes through the University of Illinois, College of Southern Idaho and Boise State University.
Moore is the owner and manager of LaMode Cleaners, a local laundry and dry cleaning business in Mountain Home.
