County files suit against Idaho Waste Systems

In addition to the prolonged Simco Road landfill fire last November, another fire reported April 19 temporarily shut down a portion of that facility again. Fire fighting resources from the National Guard at Gowen Field were called in to assist with those fire fighting efforts.

Elmore County filed a civil lawsuit against Idaho Waste Systems last month, in part, to recoup monetary losses after the Simco Road Regional Landfill caught fire and shut down the facility for six weeks at the end of 2015.

The 25-page complaint was filed July 15 in Elmore County District Court by Holland and Hart LLP, a Boise-based law firm the county hired for the case.
