Fredrick Silva

Fred T. Silva, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Life Care Center in Boise. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home, and burial will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.

There will be a celebration of life after the services at the Moose Hall in Glenns Ferry at 2 p.m.

Fred was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Alvarado, Calif. Fred joined the U.S. Army at the age of 19, was Engineer Supply Specialist, Certified as a Heavy Vehicle Driver and received the National Defense Service Medal.

Fred lived most his life in Idaho, making his home in Glenns Ferry. He married Violet Grigg in November 1983. Fred loved to hunt and fish, raising his cows and growing his garden.

He worked most his life driving trucks and farming. He worked many years for Cliff Edward Farms and Jeff Blanksma. He made many lifelong friends during his career.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Silva; and his sons, Freddy Silva and Doug Grigg. He is survived by his wife, Violet; his children, Dennis Grigg, Richard (Carolynn) Grigg, Cindy (Harlie) Hanke, Nancy Bostic, Laurie (Joe) Waldron, Thomas Silva, Theresa Silva and Dorothy Silva; and numerous grandchildren.
