Eugene Schmit

Eugene Schmit, age 82 of Mountain Home, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home in Mountain Home. Per his request, no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Eugene was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Howard, S.D., the son of John and Emma Schmit. In the early 1950s, Eugene served in the U.S. Army.

Eugene is formerly of Huron, S.D., and moved to Idaho in 1987. He enjoyed fishing and rock hounding.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Loris Schmit of Mountain Home; his son, Joseph Schmit of Wisconsin; his son, Aaron and his wife, Linda Schmit of S.D.; his daughter, Jacque and her husband, Scott McCaskell of S.D.; his stepson, Chad, and his wife, Karry Borgan of S.D.; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Schmit, Darrel (Jane) Schmit and Glenn Schmit, and his sisters, Doris Lane and Helen Yeats. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Karen; along with four brothers and one sister.
