Darlene Rae Chaney, 74 years old and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at St Luke's Elmore Medical hospital in Mountain Home. She will be laid to rest with her parents in Butte, Mont., on June 27.

Darlene was born in Butte, Mont., on June 8, 1942, to Pete Murnin and Antonia Mary Skubitz Murnin. A few years after graduating from Girl's Central High School in 1960, she left Butte to pursue her career in nursing.

In Spokane, she achieved her degree in nursing and became an RN Supervisor at Eastern State Hospital for the mentally ill. She settled in the Spokane area with her two daughters. After 30 years of dedicated service, she retired from nursing.

While working as an RN, she achieved a Bachelor's degree in Teaching and became a substitute elementary school teacher. She had a passion for helping and enjoyed sharing her wisdom with others.

Darlene loved being with her two daughters. She was always involved in their lives, from homework after school and college graduations to the birth of her two granddaughters.

Darlene was preceded in death by her mother and father; her aunts Staffie Yule of Wisconsin, Pauline Baxter of Butte, Mont., Julia (Fay) Daniels of Bremerton, Wash., and Ann (Lloyd) Crosby of Livingston, Mont.; her uncles Max and Frank Baber of San Francisco, Calif., and Henry Skubitz of Butte, Mont.

Darlene is survived by her daughters Karen Chaney of Laveen, Ariz., and Teresa (Doug) Kipp of Mountain Home; two granddaughters, Amanda (Tim) Kipp-Roemer of Boise and Carmen Kipp of Mountain Home; and her cousins. She will always be remembered and missed by all those lucky enough to have meet her.

The family would like to thank Doctor Brininger, the Horizon Home Health Care and Hospice Team, especially all of the wonderful nurses and Rost Funeral Home.

God Bless you, Mom. We love and miss you.
