Donald Thorpe

Donald "Don" Roy Thorpe, age 89 of Mountain Home, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at a hospital in Boise. Per his request, no services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Don was born in Lucas, S.D., to Monte "Shorty" and Eunice "Babe" Thorpe. Don moved to Idaho with his parents and five brothers in his early childhood.

Don married Verna "Swede" on May 9, 1944. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. Don made his career in logging for 30-plus years. He enjoyed hunting fishing and camping.

Don is survived by his daughter, Darleen and her husband Robert Ahlschlager; his daughter, Sheryl J. Thorpe; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers, two sisters one daughter and one grandson.
