Earl Tischendorf
On May 16, 2016, our dear Dad (Pop) Earl P. Tischendorf, 95 year's young of Hammett, Idaho, went home to Heaven to be with his wife and our beloved Mother, Shirley.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1920. He served in the Army Corps. and U.S.A.F. from 1942 until retirement in 1967. He served in World War II on B-25s in the 490th Bomb Squadron "Burma Bridge Busters." He received a Purple Heart and two Distinguished Flying Crosses.
He also served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a Major in the U.S.A.F. and retired again from the U.S. Postal Service while farming in Hammett, Idaho.
Dad was a Master Mason of the Medical Lake Lodge in Washington. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley, in 1945. He was a member of the Episcopal Church.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, parents Phillip and Ellen Tischendorf, brother Glenn and son, John. Earl is survived by his daughters, Patricia Dodge and husband Chad of Idaho City; Sue Jones and husband Terry of New Meadows; his son, Mike and wife Deborah of Nampa; and John's wife, Melanie of Nampa; nine grand children, 16 great grand children and three great great grand children.
Earl had many close friends that he considered family. He loved to hunt, fish, play music and at one time had race horses. He made jewelry, fishing rods, model airplanes and ships that he gave to his grand kids. He was an accomplished musician on the trumpet, piano and keyboards.
A family service for the internment of Earl and Shirley will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boise, Idaho, at a later date.
