Teen golfer sinks rare achievement
A member of Mountain Home High School's golf team recorded a rare feat as the club faced opponents from two high schools during a conference meet in Nampa.
Marcus Egusquiza dropped a hole in one on the 15th tee then eagled off a chip in on the 16th to led the Mountain Home varsity team with a 32 at the Red Hawk Golf Course on Thursday.
T.J. Gomez, golf pro with the Desert Canyon Golf Course, said it's "extremely rare" for any player to have this level of success on the same day.
Egusquiza and the rest of the high school's varsity squad played the back nine at Red Hawk.
Only three strokes separated the three teams with Bishop Kelly finishing first at 166. Mountain Home trailed by one to finish the day at 167 with Middleton carding a 168.
Cole Garrett carded a 39 to mark his best round this season. Caleb Degroot had a 47 while Michael Hoskins was two strokes behind with 49.
